Appendage plot
Fashion designer Hannah struggles with great self-doubt. These debilitating thoughts make her physically ill at some point until she even develops an appendage. As her health deteriorates, it grows stronger and feeds her negative thoughts. Her relationships with her boyfriend, bestie and parents suffer as a result. But a surprised Hannah discovers she's not alone in this precarious situation.

Director Anna Zlokovic's feature film debut does not leave the best impression, but it is by no means a cinematic disaster. In particular, the commitment to creating a somewhat original conceptual development is paying off, because I have never seen certain substantive ideas here before. What is unfortunate is the mediocre acting of Hadley Robinson, who is clearly given far too heavy a role by Zlokovic. Both the expressive and verbal side of this Hannah never shine, but many of the secondary characters are also not worth mentioning. The creature also needs some time to get going, especially because of the cheesy effect during the first half hour. After a while, however, the momentum surrounding this creature picks up nicely and the film acquires a pleasant, idiosyncratic atmosphere. Because the progression remains quite unpredictable and the visual finish is quite slick, Appendage certainly manages to fascinate, but everything never gets completely on track. The small role of Desmin Borges is very successful.
