No one was interested in this yet? Can't be seen until September. That's a very long wait for this beautifully made Italian film. But maybe a bit slow and not for everyone's taste. 17-year-old Ginia (beautiful role by Yile Yara Vianello) is on the brink of adulthood. She is successful as a clothing designer and takes the first steps on the path of love. She comes into contact with a group of bohemian artists and their models, and with their free manners. That world attracts her, but also makes her insecure. She gives herself to an unattached painter, but only really falls in love with his model Amelia.
Don't expect stormy romances. Everything is done very carefully, as was appropriate for the time. I found it moving. Also Ginia loses her way, no longer understands exactly what she feels for whom and falls into a crisis, which also causes her to lose her job. On IMDb they were not very enthusiastic, and it must be said, three quarters of the way through the film the director no longer seems to know how to proceed with her characters. But the ending is again (for me) believable.
The film has a clear erotic undertone, and it shows. Yile Yara Vianello has a beautiful face that will last you a while. The film is beautiful in design and photography, with beautiful images of a snowy Turin when that 'Beautiful Summer' (a somewhat meaningless title) is over. The story takes place in fascist Italy, with a screaming Mussolini in the background. But ideology plays no further role. Young people just want to enjoy life. And that has always been the case.
