The Yanomani and the Yekuana are indigenous peoples who live deep in the Brazilian Amazon in harmony with their environment. That environment is seriously threatened by gold diggers who have been given the space by President Bolsonaro to exploit it and who will not let anything or anyone stop them. David Kopenawa is chairman of the Hutukara Yanonami Association and travels the world with his son and vice-president Dario and financial manager Mauricio Yekuana to call on organizations and political bodies to put pressure on Bolsonaro to protect the indigenous population and their living environment. Van Eecke follows this delegation during their travels and contrasts the hectic pace of the big cities and government buildings with the harmonious, peaceful life of the Yanomani and Yekuana in their natural environment. An interesting and above all relevant subject that deserves this attention, but it is a pity that Van Eecke largely limits himself to statically filmed recordings of interviews and speeches.

Chief Kopenawa not only strives for the survival of his people with their own beliefs, customs, traditions and way of life, but also puts his finger on a wound that affects the entire world: the failure of the rainforest, an important factor in the urgent climate dossier.

Such documentaries are always educational and not unimportant.
