Due to a lack of interest among young people, pigeon racing seemed to be dying out. This changed with the arrival of the Million Dollar Race, an international “one loft race” in South Africa in which the participating pigeons (unlike local competitions) cover exactly the same distance and where the prize money is enormous. This documentary follows former, filthy rich winners and a few simple pigeon fanciers who try their luck with this competition. The story takes a surprising turn, shifting the attention to Thailand and culminating in an exciting denouement. Fascinating and amusing and yes, there is a pigeon that is auctioned for more than a million dollars!
