Horror film with a number of unforgettable scenes in the second half, but on the other hand a running time that is spread out far too long over a whole that actually has little to say. Almost the entire first hour is interchangeable and uninteresting, in which we as viewers witness a number of characters without any form of character. Director Robbie Banfitch gives no reason to empathize with the situations they experience, which means that you are looking at hot air for a long time. The second half then takes a turn in the genre, but that too takes a long time before it has fully warmed up. The choice to have much of the action take place in a confusing and dark environment is mediocre and only in the last 20 minutes does The Outwaters come up with a number of gruesome and atmospheric moments. The scenes in which the film really gets going are great and to a certain extent overwhelming, but the run-up is too long, too boring and too meaningless.

Ok it's a found footage film and that's what you have to deal with as a viewer. But all joking aside I've seen better footage movies than this... this is the worst I've ever seen... and the worst movie I've seen in 2024... and certainly one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

The first part is uninteresting and boring while in the second (horror) part you have no idea what's going on. Unless I missed something. It's sad that there apparently was no item available, also called "screenplay". According to the credits it is in any case an auteur film by one Robbie Banfitch who acts, directs, edits, films and produces. A real all-rounder. NOT. It is also noticeable that the actors lend their own first names to the characters, a practice they may have borrowed from The Blairwich Project but it is actually far too much of an honor to mention this classic in this review.

That this thing also won 2 film awards... either they were friends of Robbie or they were on drugs. Just like the maker of the film maybe.
