Film about the sailing girl who set the record for the youngest sailor around the world before Dutch sailing girl Laura Dekker set her record. As far as I am concerned, it is not necessary to make a film about everyone who does something special, often the performance is not enough to captivate an entire feature film. In this case, the starting point is sufficient for a film: a sailing trip around the world naturally offers plenty of opportunities for beautiful or exciting images and the film does not disappoint in that respect.

The only pity is that the drama is completely milked out. Everything seems to be going well and of course the main character finds herself in the most dangerous situation just before the end of her journey, where her boat is even completely engulfed by the waves. Of course that boat immediately floats up again, otherwise we wouldn't have had this film, but before we get to see that, the viewer is left in the dark for a long time, and we all get dramatic flashbacks, etc. making a film exciting at all costs, but that is not always necessary and attempts like this feel forced to me, so that the film eventually gets stuck at 3*.

Not the first time to see a survival film at sea. Either you run into sharks, and if you want it a little more believable, you have the traditional storm. A film aimed more at a younger audience. The fact that the film can also be dubbed in Dutch on Netflix only confirms that. My 10 year old daughter was already impressed by it.

So based on real facts in which a young girl wants to pursue her ultimate dream of being the youngest person ever to sail around the world. All quite sweet and although it all ends well, still quite exciting at the end. Well, tension and corny go together here.

All in all, beautifully filmed. The images during the storm, for example, looked good. I found the acting a bit wooden, not so much from the girl herself.
