Just before her 18th birthday, Jonny Baptiste [Kiah McKirnan] finds herself facing a big change. Her father [Tim Hopper] knows that Jonny would be better off with her aunt Hildie [Alicia Silverstone], who helps her master and put to good use a special gift passed down to all women of the bloodline. Of course it also has its disadvantages, which are noted. Reeder comes up with some nice ideas, but executes them poorly and doesn't get any further than a few dirty, but mainly a lot of blurry scenes in a horror film that evokes all kinds of things, but no tension. In the prologue alone I recognized elements from Halloween, Friday The 13th, The Dentist and Manhunter!

Annoying horror film, especially because of the intensely unsympathetic main character of Kiah McKirnan. If it were someone who slowly grew with her character mentally and physically, that was somewhat forgivable. Now you look at an irritating and spoiled figure for 101 minutes, which immediately disadvantages the film in terms of the bond between the characters. In any case, director Jennifer Reeder compensates to some extent with some nice concepts, even if most of them are developed quite messily. The horror is kept fairly limited during the first hour and is mainly present through the undertone, but once this really comes out the film completely turns over. Sometimes changing course is advantageous in such horror works, but in this case it hardly fits in with the structure. All in all, it gives the impression that two different scenarios were connected too hastily. Visually, quite experimental and colorful (for that extra credit), but ultimately Perpetrator is a tiring experience.
