In the unfortunate situation that you have to share your holiday home with a couple who claim to be entitled to the same accommodation due to an administrative error, there are a number of options available. In such a scenario, the film can look for contrasts from which nice comedy or hard action can be extracted. A film can also look for similarities and continue on the path of romance. Either way. There is always discomfort in such a situation. In 8 Found Dead there is also discomfort and this is of course expressed in a horror-like manner.
Where other films cherish the discomfort for a while before exploiting it, this film does not. There is almost no doubt about the intentions of the unwanted guests from the start of the film. The fake tenants are dying of murder and demonstrate this with pleasure. Incidentally, the title of the film makes no secret of the murderousness. The approach to the kills is particularly fun. The murders are a bit disappointing. The execution is safe. There is actually very little of horror value to be seen.
The film attaches more value to the story around it. In three storylines we follow three couples who have rented a holiday home together and all arrive at the house at different times. Each couple has their own encounter and continuation with the uninvited guests. The approach creates dynamics and gives the film momentum. I could not discover a more profound motivation for the chosen narrative structure. The film is not very exciting but is easy to watch due to the exaggerated portrayal of the characters and the exaggerated situation sketch. For me a successful home invasion with a bit of humor that could have been a bit more brutal in the execution.

Director Travis Greene experiments with chronology by interweaving three different timelines. However, this mainly creates a sense of randomness and a somewhat uncontrolled approach. 8 Found Dead never really tries to get exciting and gives away many of the outcomes far too early, leaving the viewer with little to puzzle out. The finale picks up the pace, and the acting is passable, but it doesn't make a good impression. Moreover, in terms of bloodshed, it's too tame to leave a lasting impression.
