The socially awkward 17-year-old cinephile Lawrence Kweller is introverted and obsessed with films. Fully convinced that he can earn $90,000 to fulfill his dream of a film school in New York, he takes a part-time job at the video store Sequels. There, the elderly store manager Alana takes him under her wing. Meanwhile, Lawrence sabotages every relationship he has at school with his narcissistic movie snobbery. Faced with the impending reality of college life, Lawrence must change his way of life.

Seventeen-year-old Lawrence [Isaiah Lehtinen] loves movies (and Saturday Night Live) and dreams of a career as a film director. That is why he wants to study at New York University at all costs. His mother [Krista Bridges] can't afford the $90,000 entry fee, so Lawrence goes to work at the Sequels video store. But because of his nasty personal traits, which can partly be explained by a childhood trauma, he finds it difficult to get along with manager Alana [Romina D'Ugo]. And he sees his best friend Matt [Percy Hynes White] less and less. Ostensibly inspired by Clerks, but with a narcissistic main character and two protagonists who deal in exaggerated acting. The screenplay is not without strong moments, but Levack's colorless directing makes it very difficult to enjoy. Canadian critics, incidentally, were considerably more impressed.
