Een Gat in Mijn Hart plot

On October 4, 1992, a plane crashes into the Groeneveen and Klein-Kruitberg flats in the Amsterdam Bijlmermeer. Many local residents see the disaster happen, lose their home, relatives or friends. Children also see the plane, the conflagration from which people try to escape and the hole that remains. Akwasi Ansah saw all this at the age of four. He and other children in the neighborhood made drawings and stories about what they saw, which were collected in a book. Thirty years later, this is the beginning of Akwasi's quest. Together with his fellow sufferers, he confronts their trauma.

Documentary about how children experienced the Bijlmer disaster at the time. In itself an interesting angle, but on the other hand not really because children have not experienced it very consciously. They are more in their emotions and that is not nothing, but people who can tell facts about what they experienced at the time are more interesting for a documentary. This documentary was seen after the series "disaster flight". And I notice that it is still deeper in myself than I would have thought beforehand. I wasn't even there and I never went to see the Bijlmer. But I still vividly remember being home alone that night when the first images of the burning flat came on TV. I also remember so well that I thought it could have happened to anyone. You are sitting at home watching TV and suddenly a plane flies into your house. Just imagine. So in that sense I can imagine that it was a very emotional event for people who actually experienced it. Even thirty years later. And even if you were a child then. If it still manages to even touch me.
