The film title and the synopsis immediately force a comparison with The Woman in the Window (2021). In both films, a female protagonist looks out the window, sees suspicious activity and then passionately tries to convince the world that a crime has been committed. In both films the burden of proof is thin and the witness is afflicted with psychological problems so that the viewer only knows that the protagonist is unstable and that it could also be a figment of the brain. It should be clear. A Girl at the Window (like The Woman in the Window, by the way) eagerly picks from previously published works and does so quite clumsily.

Plausibility and credibility are not hallmarks of the film. Many events are carelessly and carefully constructed. As a result, they fit anything but smoothly into the storyline and are, as a result, especially ridiculous. That trend goes so far that at one point I wondered if the movie might be a parody. Something along the lines of the series The Woman in the House across the Street from the Girl in the Window. However, that is not the case. We are really dealing here with a serious attempt to treat the viewer to an exciting thriller. And that failed miserably.

A Girl at the Window is too bad to be exciting. The only positive point is the antagonist. Like the rest of the cast, he cannot act either, but with an icy appearance as the only character, he makes at least a little impression. Other than that, there isn't much good about the movie. Oh yeah, the score was okay. More really doesn't come to my mind.

Easy thriller with completely copied content, only a bit clumsily executed. For example, the perpetrator is revealed in a fairly nonchalant manner and the characters are never sympathetic. Ella Newton and Radha Mitchell form an annoying combination of colorless characters, so the story initially does not invite you to become invested in this situation. The build-up of tension is otherwise difficult and director Mark Hartley only wins points with the sometimes strikingly nasty horror images, because his visual qualities are not that high. Ultimately, the entire event lasts short enough and there is always something absurd going on to prevent you from completely collapsing from boredom, but to come up with these types of simply developed thrillers is of course asking for trouble.

Worthless, the story doesn't make any sense. Why would you go into the neighbor's house if you suspect he's the killer. Weak attempt to make it an exciting movie by playing with music and suddenly moving something through the image.
