Recognizable, especially that. It's amazing how this film hits exactly the right chord. A film like this with these subjects is very suitable for a serious drama, but it turns out to be brilliant to turn it into a comedy. At times the film is really hilarious with jokes I've never seen before and situations that are so drawn from life and therefore so recognizable. Art with the capital K.

I'm now at the age where having children is part of it (although I don't have them myself) but colleagues and friends and family around me do get them so I get something from it. For example, we had a Moroccan colleague who took a sheep to work to slaughter in honor of his son. Also nice to see how in the film there is still discussion about the name of a child (with my ex I always said: we will only really determine that last name after birth) or about the circumcision . I don't have a relationship with a Mohammedan myself, but I can imagine that after birth there can be a wonderful misunderstanding about that, that you forget to talk about such things in all the hectic. Also take the deep psychological effects of the characters, the phenomenal acting (especially Harmsen really knows how to move, but Schuurman also shows that he has already risen far above the soap level) and you have Godfather allures with this film. Furthermore, all men are very well developed. They can't cook, can't babysit and jerk off to pictures of the nanny. No lying.
0.5*.

Boudellah, Van de Rest and co-screenwriter Maikel Nijnuis have taken very little of the book of the same name by scientist Hetty van de Rijt and Frans Plooij, which is based on 35 years of research into parent-baby interaction, and turned it into this terrible comedy about three couples and their baby problems. Kim [Katja Schuurman] and Roos [Sarah Chronis] find themselves confronted with the fact that their children's sperm donor [Louis Talpe] suddenly wants to play a role in the lives of 'his' children. Anne [Sallie Harmsen] is the uptight lawyer who lets herself be talked into that everything is wrong with her baby and is desperate for a place in daycare. She joins the club 'Mothers For Mothers', led by Kim, who organize all kinds of crazy activities, but which greatly increase the chance of finding a shelter. Ilse [Yolanthe Cabau] discovers that husband Sabri [Iliass Oja]'s family wants to have her son circumcised. And yes, the in-laws eventually also put a sheep in the bathtub to slaughter at the celebration of the circumcision. Admittedly: I don't have children and I'm probably too sober to understand these people, but I'm afraid that new parents can't laugh at this either. Well, come on, maybe a little. But do you have 110 minutes for that? I don't think so!
