Captains of Za'atari plot
'Captains of Za'atari' by filmmaker Ali El Arabi is about the two best friends Mahmoud and Fawzi, who live in the Za'atari refugee camp in Jordan. They have a dream to become a professional soccer player while also facing the difficult realities of their lives. Despite being locked up in appalling conditions, they remain hopeful and practice day after day. When a world-famous athlete comes to visit, both get the chance to make their dream come true.

Syrian boys in a refugee camp in Jordan are given the chance to play as a refugee team in a tournament in Qatar, meant to raise awareness for human rights. Outside of Qatar, of course. This supposed documentary follows friends Mahmoud and Fawzi as they compete for the captaincy. Eventually, they are allowed to travel to Qatar together and play matches under the team name "Syrian Dream" that are broadcast worldwide. David Trézéguet and Xavi Hernández allowed themselves to be harnessed to the Qatar Football Association in a sports documentary that would have been more palatable if it weren't so blatantly propaganda for a country that doesn't exactly hold human rights in high regard.
