Scarborough plot
Bing is a Filipino boy who lives in a deprived area. When he's not bullied at school, he spends most of his time at the nail salon where his mother works. Laura doesn't have it easy either. She has to divide her time between a mother who often abandons her for hours and a father with anger issues. Their worlds collide with Sylvie's on a preschool literacy program. Sylvie is a strong-willed and loving girl whose native family also struggles. The program is led by Miss Hina, who wants to help underprivileged children and their families.
