Eternity at Last plot

Birth, illness and death are universally recognized as inherent parts of life. But does this really have to be the case? Not if it's up to the visionaries in this science fiction documentary. They want to take human evolution into their own hands and put an end to the limits that nature has always imposed on us as humans through transhumanistic technologies. A glimpse into a possible future where fiction has disappeared from science fiction.

Documentary about the possibilities and dangers of Transhumanism, the philosophy that humanity can and must develop further into a new species that may no longer be recognizable as human. Begins with an anecdote of a father who has to answer a pressing question from his daughter: “Are we all going to die?” Then various scientists will speak who are involved in the development of technologies that can allow us to live hundreds of years or even become immortal. Bergmann wisely gives these people the space to explain their philosophy, so it is not so easy to dismiss them as madmen: this is serious science. Opposition also comes from prominent thinkers, who are trying to understand the long-term consequences for humanity, but also for our planet. The problem of the finite nature of the required raw materials is not addressed and the scenes in which we see the scientists 'in their daily lives' appear too emphatically directed. This could have been better, but as an introduction to a controversial but relevant theme, this is fine.
