Quickly edited impression of the turbulent rise and fall of the Russian TV channel Dozhd (“rain”). “Rain”, because its creator – the champagne-loving socialite Natasha Sindejeva – associates rain with freedom. Former business partner Vera Krichevskaya guides the viewer through the story of Natasha and her wealthy husband Sasha. Archive images and interviews show the fairytale beginning, when Natasja saw her dream of an “optimistic channel” come true. But we also see how the state, led by Vladimir Putin, quickly tightens the thumbscrews of the free-spirited broadcaster, year after year.
