Eindeloos Gepest – Het Verhaal van Maryana plot

Documentary about the teenage Maryana who no longer wanted to live, because the plague became unbearable for her. Based on stories from her family, teachers, friends and classmates, we get a picture of who Maryana was and what kept her busy. Maryana developed into a headstrong teenager. From an early age she creates her own style, dresses differently from others and is open about her bisexuality.

On November 14, 2020, then 14-year-old Maryana took her own life. She had been the target of bullying for years, but also found support in several good friends for whom she was also a pillar of support. Family, friends and Maryana's mentor tell the story, among others, using posts on social media. Dr. Saskia Mérelle, the senior researcher at 113 suicide prevention, places this personal story in a broader social context. The big ones missing are the bullies themselves (no word about the parents) and that is a big loss. A poignant story of missed opportunities.
