Au Revoir au Printemps plot

Issam is in the back of the car. Clinging to his blanket, he listens to his father musing on masculinity to his teenage brother. An unexpected phone call brings them to a parking lot. Issam and his brother await their father's return and try to stay out of trouble.

The message of this short film completely escapes me. I expected aclimax, but it never came. An incident with that jerry can or something, not so. Instead, an example of pedagogical education with empathy without punishing or shouting. Nondescriptive...
