Astel plot
It is the end of the rainy season in Fouta, Senegal. Life is peaceful for Astel and her father, but that peace is shattered when they have a disturbing encounter with a passing shepherd.

Beautiful film about a father's concern for his 13-year-old daughter, who realizes that she is no longer a child.
He proves he loves her, holding her hand lovingly and encouragingly, but feels she belongs with the other women and is safer. That is a beautiful scene, even a bit mischievous when the camera focuses on the mother.
The staging is great and all the players are typical and skilled.
