Don Servando and his large-scale hippie family travel to the beach to spend Christmas with Alma's aunt, Doña Alicia. She is a demanding, elderly woman who becomes Servando's nemesis. Light-hearted Mexican comedy around Christmas in which two families meet for the first time through their children who are a couple. Setting is a tropical beach so no real Christmas atmosphere. Also humor was superficial and didn't really make me laugh. Every family member has his problem somewhere and that makes this film somewhat fascinating. Because of the short duration I am not really bored and I see this film as a good practice for my Spanish lessons. The English title 'Grumpy Christmas' refers to the grumbling grandfather, but I also found this to be a bit too simple. The intention was good, but the effect didn't really come across. There was also no click with actors and I had no waaw / feel-good effect. Don't watch this one if you're looking for Christmas cheer and true family warmth in a movie. Is a bit of a cheap Mexican Hallmark version. 3* for the good Spanish lesson…
