Maya is a freelance lawyer who, after a minor setback, has lived in the apartment above her parents' garage for a few years and uses the Casillas Panadería as her unofficial office. The Mexican bakery has held a special place in her heart since she worked there as a teenager with her high school boyfriend, Alejandro "Alex" Casillas, the owner's handsome cousin. When Alex asks his Uncle Maya's help to sell the bakery, Alex decides to return home to have one last Christmas at the bakery and help Maya find a buyer, whether she really wants his help or not.
