Maarten van Roozendaal - Ik Ben de Man Die Naast Mij Staat plot
Maarten van Roozendaal is sometimes compared to big names such as Ramses Shaffy and Jacques Brel, but occupies a unique place among the writers and singers of the Dutch song. Eight years after the death of the singer-songwriter and cabaret artist, Van Roozendaal's work is still popular with music lovers and performers. In this documentary, director Josefien Hendriks does not use interviews with colleagues, family or friends, but lets the portrayed speak for herself. Through fragments from a radio interview, Van Roozendaal talks about his melancholic and sometimes cynical oeuvre, his self-destructive lifestyle and the pain as a source of inspiration.
