Quite an atmospheric horror-thriller, with masked Venetians who target tourists. The ending was a bit disappointing.

Anyone who is familiar with De La Iglesia knows that he likes a good touch of surrealism in his films. He is not as extravagant as with Balade Triste de Trompeta and even delivers a surprisingly everyday slasher, albeit with a critical note against mass tourism. Five Spanish tourists arrive in Venice, where they receive a less than warm welcome. There is a grim atmosphere among the townspeople against the inconveniences caused by the enormous cruise ships in the lagoon. The fun is completely over for the Spanish group when one of the friends disappears. After that the film actually becomes more of a detective and then the film goes under a bit. Still, De La Iglesia's pitch-black humor style flares up every now and then, like that nice scene in which the jester slits the throat of a Japanese tourist on a bridge, while dozens of tourists film the murder with their smartphones, thinking it's a show. . I thought the first hour was decent, but unfortunately a disappointing ending.
