"An enduring love affair."
Less than a year after 'Meeting the Beatles in India', another documentary about the Fab Four and India follows. 'The Beatles and India' begins when George Harrison discovers a sitar during the shooting of the movie 'Help!' and culminates with the same Harrison recording a record in Mumbai. Both the friendship with sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar and the influence of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the creator of transcendental meditation, are discussed.

Led by George Harrison, The Beatles first immersed themselves in Indian culture in 1966. They visited the ashram of Shankara Angadi, a gifted sitar player who became their spiritual mentor. This documentary looks back at the times The Beatles were in India with eyewitnesses. That produces nice stories, but not too many new insights for those who know a little more about John, Paul, George and Ringo than the average viewer. Moreover, apart from a documentary about Shakra Angadi, little footage is available regarding the period in question.
