"What you don't see can break you."
After the fallout of an important story, Melanie, an award-winning investigative journalist, returns to the small town of Cherry Springs for a much-needed break. She doesn't get much rest, because Melanie soon discovers that her childhood friend Tony has gone missing. Subsequently, Melanie applies her investigative skills to uncover the facts surrounding the disappearance, much to the dismay of Jake Collins, the detective working on the case.
