Madagascar: Africa’s Galapagos plot
Darwin never stopped on Madagascar. Of all the trips he should have taken, this is definitely one. The oldest and - in terms of evolution - the strangest island on Earth. His ship, the Beagle, sailed so close to the shoreline that it bobbed up and down on the currents of the coral reefs. From their hiding places in the dark jungle, whimsical creatures could have watched as the legendary ship disappeared on the horizon of the Indian Ocean. Would Charles Darwin have adjusted his conclusions about adaptation if he had roamed these forests? Perhaps if he had met this list of creatures...
