Stanislaw Ulam is a Polish immigrant and brilliant mathematician, one of the most brilliant scientists of the 20th century. In the 1930s he had to move to the US because of his Jewish descent. Stanislaw copes with the difficult loss of family and friends as he helps create the hydrogen bomb and the first computer.

A scientist's dilemma of contributing to progress coupled with destruction. This is to "protect" future generations. Beautiful biographical film about Stanislaw Ulam, who worked under Oppenheimer, the inventor of the Monte Carlo simulation and the Tellar-Ulam design, this design contributed to the development of the hydrogen bomb after the atomic bomb. Well acted and better viewed in German than English.
