Oasis Knebworth 1996 plot

"THIS IS HISTORY! RIGHT HERE. RIGHT NOW. THIS IS HISTORY!"

On August 10 and 11, 1996, 250,000 young music fans gathered in Knebworth Park to watch Oasis perform in two record-breaking, era-setting shows. The concerts were sold out within a day: no less than 2.5 million people (2% of the entire British population!) tried to buy tickets. With a set list packed with absolute hits such as Champagne Supernova, Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger, the two days at Knebworth were both a pinnacle of the band's success and a milestone for an entire generation. Oasis Knebworth 1996 tells the story of that weekend, and of the special bond between Oasis and its fans. This story is told through the eyes of these fans, as well as through additional interviews with the band and the concert organizers.

Nice documentary that is mainly told from the fans' perspective. The tension towards the event, buying the tickets, the ride, entering and when they almost come on stage you are actually quite tense yourself. The songs, in which stories are often told, are usually cut off after 1/3 to 2/3 so don't expect a concert film. It remains a documentary. The home release gets both evenings in full. And in this way you have a nice whole. And how nice it is after all these years to finally have a nice high quality release of perhaps the most important concert of Oasis. And then two full evenings of material too!

Powerful documentary about the two legendary concerts that Oasis gave on 10 and 11 August 1996, built around the stories of a large number of fans. Visually, the documentary is often on the busy and jerky side, how could it be otherwise given the archive material from that time, but the music and the beautiful stories (the band also has its say) make up for a lot. What is especially striking is how many beautiful songs the band already had after having made only two albums. Liam Gallagher's monotonous vocals occasionally get on your nerves, but brother Noel and the rest of the band are in top form.

I also found and still find Liam Gallagher's singing 'whiny' and monotonous; that's the reason I'm not a fan of Oasis.
