Une Histoire d'Amour et de Désir plot

Ahmed, 18, is a Frenchman of Algerian descent. He grew up in the Parisian suburbs. On the benches of the university he meets Farah, a young Tunisian woman full of energy, newly arrived from Tunis. While discovering a collection of sensual and erotic Arabic literature that he didn't know existed, Ahmed falls madly in love with this girl, and although he is literally overcome with desire, he tries to resist it.

Thoughtful coming-of-age drama about two students at the Sorbonne. He a culture-conscious, introverted boy from the banlieue of Algerian descent, she a frank, modern girl who has only just arrived in Paris from Tunisia. Their mutual interest in early Arabic literature brings them together, but the young man's insecurities about love and sex collide again and again with her outspoken nature.
After À Peine J'Ouvre les Yeux (2015), director Leyla Bouzid once again brings a sensitive rollercoaster about young people from North Africa, which is definitely worth seeing. I would like to meet the two protagonists Sami Outalbali and Zbeida Belhajamor more often in the coming years.

Had expected a little more from this coming-of-age film about two students, one of whom is a lot more wary - but no less sincere - about an intimate relationship than the other.

It is remarkable how literary works and subject matter play an important role in the development, especially of the boy, and the rapprochement of both.

Very appropriate title.
