Delicious. Because many reviews were negative, I had low expectations, but this film was made with so much fun that I enjoyed it continuously. Some very nice jokes in terms of editing and music, beautiful camera work and excellent acting. Enchanting backdrops of historic Europe, story runs energetically and never stands still. This is a movie made with no pretensions other than how wonderful it is to make such a movie.

Smooth movie.

It's hard for me to imagine that a crime movie set in the same universe as the epic zombie movie Army of the Dead, that has a much nicer concept, turns out better than the aforementioned film. Comes from a totally unexpected side with director Schweighöfer.

Where Snyder's film had mainly become a long stretched and far too serious film on what could have been nice and stupid fun, Schweighöfer does hit the right notes. Despite the fact that there are hardly any zombies in this film, almost everything runs a lot smoother compared to Army of the Dead. That alone will ensure that the playing time of 127 minutes never becomes a problem.

Story is just a bit too predictable and thin to justify a playing time like this, but Schweighöfer has his tone under control. Often nice and light-hearted entertainment with the right, crazy characters. Assembly is smooth enough and the visual interpretation is also nice. In terms of action, it may run a bit faster here and there, but the film entertains throughout its entire running time.

The sad thing is that it will most likely leave you feeling cold, beyond the thought that you've just been entertained. The story is correct, but it is too long and the line is just a bit too clear. As a result, the end doesn't really know what to do with you. It is mainly the extras that ensure that Army of Thieves never exceeds the average.

Furthermore, it is nice and fast with a long playing time that seems to pass quickly. With his addition to the Of the Dead universe, Schweighöfer focuses mainly on entertainment. His character just didn't really need to have his own movie. I think he just wanted to put himself in the shoes of this Ludwig Dieter one more time. It just delivers decent entertainment, so I don't have much to complain about.
