Julia Child is known to cooking aficionados as one of the three authors of the revolutionary cookbook “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” and as the patriarch of all TV chefs who have ever passed the revue. But the story of Julie Child's life and career is groundbreaking for many more reasons. This documentary paints a vivid picture of an ordinary, unusual woman who, through a combination of circumstances, coupled with an iron will, became one of the cultural icons of the 20th century. So it doesn't matter if you've ever heard of Julia Child: this documentary has something for everyone. Obviously ideally suited in combination with a fresh hot meal.

Didn't know it, but luckily there is this excellent documentary about an American lady who introduced French cuisine to the States and eventually became so popular that it even became socially important.

Atmospheric and touching the sketched image of the 1950s and delicious passages about the French culinary hassle, the packed restaurants in the French capital (Yves Montand now brings "Sous le Ciel de Paris") where dining out also had a social aspect.

Also interesting is her perseverance to be heard and seen with the hard-to-realize first TV broadcasts, later to grow into many successes with book and series.

A beautiful and captivating story.
