An unknown movie here apparently. It could be due to the weak score on IMDB, but this film was certainly not that bad.

What plays a role in the plot of the film is the still paternalistic society in which women have to ask permission from their husband to be able or allowed to do things. I didn't get the impression that we were dealing with an extreme form of this here. The father had a point, but of course you can never forbid it, at least not from a Western point of view.

And then it happens. Out of sheer naivety, lie after lie is strung together. It's precisely that which makes the man very angry. Rightly so, I think, although he would have objected if she had told the truth, because in the end she would not have obeyed him.

I found the attempts at reconciliation rather sloppy. It went very smoothly. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the film with the extra harrowing powerful ending. As often, Iranians have the hallmark of strong acting and compelling drama. That is no different here. Lightly recommended.
