Never Hike in the Snow plot
Mark Hill, a resident of Crystal Lake, has suddenly disappeared after a walk in the dead of winter. While local sheriff Rick Cologne searches for answers, Tommy Jarvis believes his old nemesis, serial killer Jason Voorhees, is back. Will Mark's mother ever see her son again? Or is he yet another victim of the cursed camp?

This second part of director Vincente DiSanti's own planned trilogy is almost half an hour shorter, but feels like a segment that mainly serves as a final introduction. As much drama, background and structure as possible is crammed into this piece and therefore you forget what it is actually based on. The opening is very cool and the snow setting is even brilliantly chosen, but ultimately DiSanti pays little attention to the cold handling of the weather. In the end, the film even reminded me more of David Gordon Green's Halloween trilogy than of Friday the 13th. The acting is exceptionally strong, but the complete lack of tension, memorable parts and/or effective atmosphere settings ensure that Never Hike in the Snow will mainly serve as "that one fan film with Jason in the snow".
