Aisha plot
After fleeing persecution, Nigerian Aisha applies for international protection in Ireland. While she is waiting for her asylum case to be settled, she is staying in a reception center. Films about refugees and asylum seekers usually cut me short. That is not due to the stories, but to the daily practice on which the stories are based. In this film, a young woman from Nigeria is slowly but surely ground down by the wheels of the Irish asylum seekers system and finds herself caught between rigid bureaucracy and indifference. A sad socio-psychological drama by director Frank Berry with an impressive title role by Letitia Wright. Sad.
