Chain smoking, daydreaming, lap swans: that's how Xia and her best friend Jie spend most of their days in his Boston apartment. Struggling actor Jie occasionally auditions and Xia, who has temporarily interrupted her studies in New York, writes scripts for cheap Chinese soap operas while fervently hopes to meet the boy she is in love with. It could be the messy start to the gleaming movie careers both dream of, or the hedonism of a few rudderless young adults who still have the illusion that they have all the time in the world.
