Nice, very interesting HBO documentary about the origin and development over the years of everyone's favorite children's program. It is especially great to see the intense collaboration between Frank Oz and Jim Henson in the early years of the program, but also the interviews with many involved and the other archive material used is first-class.

The book “Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street” by Michael Davis is the starting point for this documentary that tells the hearts of Bert, Ernie, Grover, Clarence Cookie, Kermit, Big Bird, Oscar, Elmo and The Count. of several generations of children and taught them the basics of language. Special attention goes to Joan Cooney, the creator of the concept that linked experts in the field of television marketing with experts in the field of education and didactics. Jon Stone, the producer and director of those first seasons, is also emphatically in the spotlight. And attention is paid to the key role played by Sonia Manzano, Emilio Delgado and Roscoe Orman in the integration of ethnic minorities. Keep the handkerchiefs at the ready the adult residents of Sesame Street explain to Big Bird that Lloyd, the so-called 'father of Sesame Street', has died and at the end of the skit with Kermit, the arrows and a disarming toddler. This is how beautiful and valuable television can (and should) be.

This was recently on TV and caught on. Thought it was a very interesting documentary that was mainly about the early years of the series. It also showed that there was more to the series than just dolls.

Fortunately not a boring documentary, thought it was worth seeing.
