A Classic Horror Story plot

Five carpoolers share a camper when they crash into a tree one evening. They turn out to be in no man's land and suddenly can't find the road on which they were driving. Instead, they come across an impenetrable forest with a log cabin in the middle of a clearing. This turns out to be the home of some shady figures.

Surprisingly nice horror film, which captivated me from start to finish, although the kills could have been detailed in the picture for me, then at least half was added, now there was a nice atmosphere beforehand.

A great meeting of The Cabin in the Woods and Midsommar. With the necessary winks that the director adds on purpose.

A few young people (and an older one); the self-righteous sul Fabricio, the know-it-all Mark, the unwanted pregnant twenties Elisa, the optimistic Sofia and the arrogant doctor Mark. Via a kind of Blablacar-like app they meet in a camper and go off in Italy. They have to dodge a deer and crash into a tree. Naturally.

What follows seems to be an ode to many horror films. And that in this case is more than entertaining. In the beginning you think that the moment they enter that field with that hut, they are all actually dead, but it takes a completely different turn. First a lot of standard stuff; that cult with those typical masks, tortures that don't lie, the superhuman rituals... and the borrowing neighbor of Midsommar (that crying scene), until the denouement; which is indeed very similar to The Cabin in the Woods, but is nothing more than a strong social message.

The after credits was also strong.

The title would already seem superficial. Let alone an English title for an Italian film, but the end product manages to come in great and the directors know how to turn out creative and surprising. Beautiful and sometimes apocalyptic-looking images (that road full of scrap), good acting and a good bite. And you don't see the denouement coming.

This is how I want to see a horror movie.

The only positive thing about this film is the beautiful Matilda Lutz, who I also liked in Revenge (2017). For the rest, this film is completely aimless, the so-called references and criticisms of other horror films completely uninteresting, and the unraveling as obvious as can be. What the mafia has to do with this is also never made clear. If I want to see a horror movie that deals with the theme of "we're in a horror movie and I'm secretly filming you", I'd rather rewatch The Cabin in the Woods (2011).
