At the end of 2017, after 27 years, dictator Robert Mugabe's rule in Zimbabwe came to an end. For more than half a year, the people have been allowed to go to the polls to elect a new parliament and a new president. Emerson Mnangagwa, Robert Mugabe's former right-hand man, takes on Morgan Tsvangirai, leader of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). Four months before the elections, Tsvangirai dies from cancer. His successor is the 40-year-old lawyer Nelson Chamisa, who is seriously beaten shortly after his appointment as opposition leader. But nothing stops him from campaigning. This documentary follows Chamisa and his team in the last four weeks before the "fair and transparent elections". Election day itself is all about gathering evidence for the usual electoral fraud. The close-ups of judge Priscilla Makanyara Chigumba (the chair of the electoral commission) during the announcement of the election results are telling. A look behind the scenes of a thoroughly corrupt country and the doomed attempts to break the cycle of corruption.
