This documentary traces a unique musical evolution: the story of the first generation of blues musicians who came to Chicago from the Mississippi Delta and of their passionate yet unexpected followers. They were young middle-class white kids who listened to the penetrating music in smoky clubs deep in the Chicago ghettos. The Chicago blues passed from musician to musician and transcended the color line of the 1960s, as young white Chicago musicians were apprenticed to legends such as Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy and Howlin' Wolf.
