"We need an heir."
Paul Château-Têtard, in his forties, takes the metro for the first time in his life and immediately falls for the young ticket clerk Ava. The two click and Paul sees himself marrying her, an idea his mother detests. Ava and her mother-in-law do not get along and the older woman is convinced that Ava is unfaithful. She hires a private detective to collect evidence.
