Once upon a River plot
Margo Crane is a Native American teenager who lives with her father. When the man is violently killed, the girl flees to Michigan's Stark River, where she searches for her estranged mother. Along the way, she encounters allies, enemies, danger and the beauty of nature as she confronts her past and her own identity.

This book adaptation has a few intense scenes in the beginning, but soon settles into calmer waters when an Indian teenager travels through America on her own in search of her estranged mother. Along the way she meets all kinds of colorful figures.
An entertaining film, including the culture shock when she sees her mother again. Newcomer Kenadi DelaCerna plays an impressive leading role.
