Unforgivable plot
Though covered in tattoos from head to toe, Geovanny has a soft, almost childlike appearance. But when he tells how he joined the Barrio 18 gang at age 12 as a member of a killing unit where killing rivals was a sport, that image is rudely disproved by the atrocities he describes.

Those Latin American prisons are nothing to laugh at. Here in El Salvador we are visiting a kind of open-air prison. The conditions are appalling with a rather open regime where everyone gets mixed up. There are no closed cells - there may be some - here. There are separate wings from which these testimonies also come.
Religion (Christianity) is very central, both in the country and in the prison. That was obvious. It must be scorching hot there. The stench will also be correspondingly. There is constant waving that can be waved. And bottles are hanging up everywhere. That wasn't entirely clear to me. Sanitary reasons? Anyway, no fun there. The cat still looked good, but that mouse, I have never seen such an ugly mouse. The cat was tethered to the mouse instead of the bell. There was little evidence of any animal instinct.
Speaking of instinct. Those mafia gangs that terrorize the entire society often act as competitors for each other's lives. Although I take the testimony with a grain of salt (maybe I watched too much Cannibal Holocaust), it is striking how lightly people talk about the incident. It also doesn't fit with the person you see there and you also realize that such a gang life is extremely tough. The homosexual relationship that comes with it makes it extra "doesn't fit into the picture", you certainly don't expect it and certainly not that it is communicated so openly about it.
