Nice film about a boy who follows his father in search of hope. Although the course of this Christmas film is not really surprising, the whole is presented in an adventurous way. Beautiful costumes and sets and secretly quite a few well-known actors. A little too clearly aimed at the younger audience for my taste.

Well-intentioned but rather forced and lavish Christmas film, which tries very hard to be charming. That works here and there, but it's all way too busy and crammed with gaudy cgi to be really magical. However, the cast is fine, with Jim Broadbent especially great as the king. The scene in which he has the main characters come to his palace is hilarious.

The film was released in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany and China by StudioCanal on November 26, 2021. Netflix released the film elsewhere on November 24, 2021. Maggie Smith, Jim Broadbent, and Toby Jones were previously featured in the Harry Potter franchise. This respectively as Minerva McGonagall, Horace Slughorn and the voice of Dobby. Jim Broadbent, Michiel Huisman and Joel Fry also had supporting roles in Game of Thrones. Broadbent voiced the eldest Santa in the animated film Arthur Christmas, and played him in real life in Get Santa. Sally Hawkins and Jim Broadbent previously played together in Paddington and Paddington 2. Joel Fry also appeared in the sequel. The name Lumi in the movie is a Finnish word for "snow."
An ideal Christmas film for the whole family, who want to deviate from the standard films as we see them every year. Beautifully visually portrayed, and anything but boring.
