200 Meters plot
Every evening Mustafa is on the balcony. He greets his wife and children in another house 200 meters away, by turning the lights on and off. Although they are physically close to each other, the barriers that exist in Palestine make it extremely difficult to move back and forth. To travel home from work, he has to go through heavy and unfriendly administrative procedures. For example, he has to go through customs and the screening at the airport. He suddenly hears the news of his son's accident, but the entry point is closed due to technical problems. Whatever happens, he desperately tries to reach his son, even though he has to make a long detour.

A poignant and tangible account of the Palestinian enclaves and areas in Israel that have a major influence on the daily lives of many people. A film that is entertaining and has a strong emotional impact on Mustafa's family, especially when things go wrong.
Bureaucracy and regulation lead to emergency scenarios, but these clandestine solutions also have a price tag. The underlying tension between both population groups is always palpable and the situation can explode at any moment. Using a kind of road movie, the director takes you on the path to a fascinating story in which powerlessness is central.
Naturally and authentically filmed, excellent cinematography and acting. Strong!

Maddening bureaucracy and crime in the shadows. In '200 meters' (2020), family man Mustafa (Ali Soliman) seems to have a solution when he can no longer cross the border between Palestine and Israel. Only 200 meters separate his own house and that of his wife and children, but the distance is separated by miles due to the presence of a dividing wall. They can even give each other light signals in the evening. However, Mustafa must employ human smugglers when his work permit is refused and he urgently wants to be with his family. What follows is a Kafkaesque hell tour in which he tries to get over that wall with other Palestinians and German journalist Anne (Anna Unterberger). As befits a good road trip, '200 meters' (2020) is mainly about the surreal situations along the way and the tensions between the various passengers. It also helps that Mustafa is such an intensely warm personality.
