After a tragic event, Lilly is grieving and her marriage is put to the test. She hopes to work through her grief through gardening, but is constantly attacked by a starling that has nestled near her house. In an effort to deal with the bird, Lilly turns to psychiatrist and vet Larry.

Since her husband Jack [Chris O'Dowd] has admitted himself after a suicide attempt, Lily [Melissa McCarthy] has to come to terms with the death of their daughter Kate. This is difficult for her both at work and during her visit to Jack, so Lily is advised to talk to Dr. Larry Fine [Kevin Kline].
