Seen in the sneak preview of Pathé.

Nice movie about Roald Dahl in the 60s.

Reasonable film about a couple who lose their daughter at a young age. A kind of double biopic about writer Roald Dahl and actress Patricia Neal, but even more a film about grief. Very solid, but a bit too much within the lines and all seen before.

A film that is indeed more about grieving than about Dahl or Neal himself. Although it is of course an extra fine pigment to see their professional activities in the background. It is striking that they both even reach a peak, she with the film Hud and its crowning at the Oscars, and he with his breakthrough with Sjakie, after they went through such a deep valley with the loss of their daughter Olivia.

What just made that click for both, I did not see or insufficiently reflected in the film, the film was too light for that, despite the dramatic events of course. A film about a heavy subject, but one that is reasonably sized for young teenagers. It is also a pity that little attention was paid to Theo, the little brother. Literally even, because I didn't see him doing much more than sitting in the playground. The scenes that moved me the most was yet Roald Dahl's emotional neglect of Tessa. Sad.

Furthermore, a typical atmospheric British film on the countryside. I like that. Excellent interpretation of Bonneville, by the way, who I always like to see appear in films, but will never indicate as my favorite actor. Wrong maybe...
