Kayla is part of the staff of a 5 star hotel in New York. A wedding is planned that threatens to go wrong. The mischievous mouse Jerry has settled in the hotel. Kayla decides to bring the stray cat Tom into the hotel so that he can make Jerry disappear.

The Tom & Jerry animations were legendary. They received 13 Oscar nominations and won seven awards, placing them at the top of the animated franchises. A strong team behind the animated films created a formula that ensured success time and time again. That's completely gone in this live-action film. What's more, just like in the Dumbo remake, the familiar characters are pushed aside to let the audience carry the film. Tom & Jerry have become an extended running gag instead of the main characters in their own film.
The mistake is sometimes made of targeting only a young audience, written by less young people who then simply use trendy abbreviations, sayings, and music. While a large portion of the viewers are primarily people watching for nostalgia. Unfortunately, you don't reach either of them. It's a shame, because if you look at a film like Herbie Reloaded with Lindsay Lohan, it's possible to make a film with a nostalgic feel and connect with a new generation.
The film isn't entirely bad. There's certainly plenty going on, and the cast is decent. But it's certainly not creative, and the film lacks heart. Hollywood will never learn...

What sick mind came up with the idea of starring Tom and Jerry in a live-action movie? The violent humor of this popular duo lends itself perfectly to a cartoonish setting, but feels unpleasant in this weak modernization. The story, as far as you can tell, has the two settling into a hotel where they initially wreak havoc, but end up helping Kayla [Chloë Grace Moretz] save the hotel and her job. A hopeless waste of time and money.

Watched this movie once and it wasn't bad, but not wow either. The story is not super special and also in terms of humor, it was not all that special. The cast did fine. The mix of animation and film was not bad.
