T'en Fais Pas, J'suis Là plot

Jonathan Rivière is a successful lawyer with a 12-year-old autistic son, Gabriel, whom he barely sees. From birth, Jonathan was convinced that family life was not for him. He has made an agreement with Sophie, Gabriel's mother, that she will take full care of Gabriel and that he will pay for everything. However, when Sophie falls victim to an aneurysm one day, Jonathan's life changes completely. He takes care of his son, who leads a life of strict customs and rules, a life Jonathan knows nothing about and seems incompatible with his own.

Although people usually have an idea of how such films will turn out, they nevertheless manage to touch the viewer, as in this "t'En fais pas, j'suis là" (the title suggests a light, romantic comedy), in which the suffering of autism and the courage and love that must be mustered to deal with it is strongly underlined.

Le Bihan and the young actor Roman Villedieu (a name to remember!?) are excellent performers.

Very serious but not depressing. Kudos to the makers for mixing in some "comedy". It is easier to look away, it makes just as much of an impression and the message remains.

Le Bihan apparently has an autistic daughter herself and is committed to autistic children in France.

This is a solid film that does what it has to do. Cinematically it remains rather basic, typical candidate for TV5 that broadcasts many of these socially conscious (TV) films.
