Hosts plot

"Make yourself at home."

This out-of-nowhere Christmas horror film has enough substantive quality to balance just above mediocrity. Directors Adam Leader and Richard Oakes mainly use the fairly shocking outbursts of violence, which start after a relatively long introduction. Before this, the conceptual idea is briefly introduced, but the strength of Hosts does not lie in its structure. In particular, the behavior of the "odd couple" is too clearly evil for the protagonists to supposedly not notice and Leader & Oakes had done well to strengthen the script considerably in terms of logic. Once the horror scenes are pulled out of the closet, the film takes a turn and Hosts treats the viewer to a fairly unpredictable spectacle. The film clearly suffers from budgetary limitations, but the violent crimes are strikingly graphic and the underlying idea remains mysterious enough not to fall apart completely. In this way, this film offers enough to keep the viewer interested for the relatively short running time.
