Dyck's greatest merit is actually that you don't even notice it immediately. Usually you can really tell, as I recently had with Butchers (2020). The biggest difference is that Butcher's Adrian Langley has two of that (type) Hallmark films to his name and Justin Dyck has about 20! If you have been bashing out those types of films for so long and to this extent, then I immediately have my doubts about his skills as a director. Fortunately, he seizes this (for him) rare excursion with both hands and turns it into quite a striking genre work, with enough nice ideas combined to avoid ending up in a clichéd corner. That is also striking. The acting is just sufficient, characters lack something characteristic because of this. But overall quite worth it.

Surprisingly good horror film that manages to score in almost all domains. In terms of tension and scare moments, it is good. The story is also more than solid compared to most horror works. The story is well constructed and has more or less an original angle because in the end the grandparents are not the real nightmare for the leading actress Becker (Konstantina Mantelos), but all the ghosts who want to get a ticket from the reverse exorcism for new life. There are some really good nasty or scary moments in the film. In addition, a convincing cast, especially the parental couple Audrey and Henry (Sheila McCarthy and Julian Richings) are perfectly cast to achieve their dark goal. 7/10

A rare foray into horror for director Justin G. Dyck, previously responsible for about twenty sappy Christmas films. If you think about that, Dyck is actually an expert in the field of horror. The plot of Anything For Jackson is not very original, but the acting and design are excellent and the film has quite a few creepy and uncomfortable moments. Unfortunately, the finale is a bit disappointing, but everything remains just on track.
